I just survived a plane crash!

Posted by Cassandra Rae On November - 25 - 2009

Imagine you just survived a plane crash. How would you run your business differently? Heck, how would you live your life differently?

I would totally ramp it up and put myself out there.  So what’s stopping me from doing that now? Good question.  And I’m done waiting to find out.  I don’t need to figure out why I’m hesitating.  I simply need to move.

And I”m going to imagine that I’ve just survived a plane crash.  I’ve been handed a second chance at life and I’m not going to poo poo around any longer.

I get to live my intention that Coach Vicki Garcia helped me articulate in this month’s Simply Fearless Coaching Call:

I AM WILLING TO PRACTICE BEING MY BOLD SELF!!!

So watch out folks cuz here comes a survivor who rocks!

In search of a photo to include with this post, I searched the keyword “bold” in my flickr photostream and found this photo & inscription from August 2008:
Shimmering Beauty!
“You are beautiful simply by opening up and blossoming boldly!”

Writing Buddies Kick Ass!

Posted by Cassandra Rae On November - 23 - 2009

So this morning I met with Suzanne for our first writing session and oh my god!  It was amazing and powerful.  With her sitting next to me {and no computer!} there was nothing for me to do but keep my butt planted in that seat and write, which is exactly what I did for 3 hours!  Yup, you heard me right: we got together from 7 to 10am so that we could individually work on our writing projects together.

What made it so powerful? Well, for starters there was nowhere for me to run! That was huge.

Secondly, I just kept writing until the content emerged.

Thirdly, we shared a bit about our projects and the writing process.

It was also Suzanne herself that made it so awesome.  She has this super smiley spirit that both comforted and inspired me.  I simply felt more capable writing in her presence.  This piece is kinda hard to explain and one part of me wants to lay it all out.  But, another part of me knows that you understand about how getting together with another person can change how you feel about yourself.

Okay if you are working on a writing project, then I highly recommend working with a writing buddy like Suzanne and I are doing. If you need to, you can also add in an accountability piece where at the end of each writing session you make a commitment for the next week.  Then at the beginning of the next session, you talk about what you accomplished and what you are going to work on that day.

To be frank with you, I kinda liked not having an accountability piece – I actually have a separate accountability partner, but that’s another topic for another blog post!  The bottom line is having an appointment with another person outside of my house (I work from home) to write with is totally transforming my work-life.  And getting my book proposal written.  Suh-weet!

Simply Fearless Connecting

The writing process can be a bitch.  If you’re like me, you might want to isolate yourself in your struggles.  Don’t.  This is one journey better traveled together.

Face a Fear Friday!

Posted by Cassandra Rae On November - 20 - 2009

Back in September I made a commitment to face one fear every day for 100 days.  Isn’t that crazy?!  Yeah well, I’m not the only one crazy enough to take this on.  There are other super cool & courageous people doing it with me and we are rocking it out!

So 100 days is big, right? But, you like the idea about facing your fears and moving through them, right? Of course, you do!  Otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this article on my blog.  So I decided to launch a weekly ritual here at SimplyFearless.com where every Friday we blog about one fear we faced during this past week.  Damn that rocks!

One of the fears I faced this week was making a commitment to my daughter to work on my Book Proposal for 15 minutes every day for 30 days.  This has been something I’ve been avoiding and it is time to allow someone else to hold me accountable and who better than my 16 year old daughter? She’s also made the commitment to work out for 15 minutes a day for 30 days and at the end of the 30 days we are  going to get a body piercing together.  I want to get my nose pierced and she wants snake-bites.
