What are you willing to do for your Calling?

First off, great big THANKS to Kate & Brian of Watsons-Unleashed for introducing me to this guy who dances very badly. You see, Kate & Brian decided to hold a contest {which I’m going to win, by the way :~} about picking a theme for their round-the-world adventure. They’ve already eliminated dancing badly in every country because this guy Matt has already done it twice over:
It totally gives me chills every time I see all those people come together to do a silly dance! It’s pointless really. Or is it? In fact, it’s quite monumental and let me tell you why:
This guy Matt is connected with his Calling.
And not only that…he was willing to change his life to accommodate it. Like most peeps, he wasn’t satisfied with your normal, every day 9-5 job. Nope. He wanted more. He wanted adventure. And so he quit. He quit his job to travel because it felt right.
Did he have all the answers when he left? Nope. In fact, I could imagine that he had more questions than answers and that part of him was asking, “What the hell am I doing?” But, he didn’t allow that to stop him. He didn’t stay trapped in a job that felt like it was choking the livelihood out of him.
Now, am I suggesting that all of you quit your job to travel the world dancing badly? No, of course not – unless it’s your Calling – but, I do want you to take notice, pay attention, and learn from this guy’s bad moves. Matt was willing to:
- Let go of what most of us say is the “right” way to go {i.e. a college education & a stable 9-5 job}
- Risk it all for his own happiness
- Put himself out there
- Showcase his unique style – no matter how silly or different
- Create a lifestyle that fit for him
- Follow his heart
And you know what? He ended up traveling the world at least twice over, getting a sponsor to pay for his travels, and becoming an internet super-star. Wouldn’t we all like to achieve that?! And we can. When we are connected with our Calling.
