  • Cassandra, how amazing and what a way to celebrate your birthday! Thanks for sharing this. It's so true that when we are paralyzed by fear the only way to get out of it is to MOVE! It goes against everything your mind and body are telling you, but when you overcome that paralysis and initiate movement, even if it's just an inch at a time, you find out what you're truly made of. Loved it!

    In the spirit of aloha,

  • "...the only way to get out of [fear's way] is to MOVE!" Oh thank you for sharing your wisdom, Yvonne. You rock!
  • Deanna
Wonderful video! What a great blog title! I used to have panic attacks and was just so fearful of even going out in public alone. I challenged myself bit by bit, just like you did. The first movie I went to alone, at age 23 was truly a milestone, then it was taking myself out to lunch solo, huge! Mind you, I was already a mother and had survived a divorce before all of that. Over the years I've had many wonderful experiences that I would never have had if I hadn't challenged those fears, one of them being, I hiked the Grand Canyon by myself, which considering at one point in my life I "just knew" every time I got in someone's car I was just going to die. Now I'm working at getting up my nerve to perform with other musicians in front of an audience, I'm getting butterflies just thinking about it. Aaarrrrgh!
  • Oh those butterflies are a beautiful sign that you are alive & on the path of your Calling! If you weren't meant to perform with other musicians, then the impulse wouldn't have shown up. You are capable. You are courage. And you've already faced some intense fears. Keep walking your path, Deanna. You rock! Oh, and please invite me to your next performance :~)
  • Ok, I've got chills! It was like I was right there with you. Thanks for sharing the whole rappelling process with us and how you overcame your fear. I promise to take what I've learned and apply it to my own ocean woes.

On a fear side note, I bucked up my courage and asked four 1/2-Ironman athletes if I could interview them yesterday. No takers but not for a lack of trying!
  • You are so welcome, Kate! And thank you for inspiring me to dust off the Flip :~)

So glad to hear you are putting yourself out there & asking for interviews. Begin to see people saying yes. Imagine how you will feel once your first interview is complete & readership on your blog explodes! Woohoo! I personally can't wait to read all about it.

    Cassandra,
I love yor message... it is true, we let our fear go little by little... how profound!
Thank you and have a great weekend!
    Alejandra
  • Aw thank you Alejandra! It does seem so much easier to know that you don't have to overcome it all at once. A little bit every day leads to a lifetime of change!
