So last night I had this dream that my mom had this huge house and my two sisters and I were coming over to visit for a few days. I got this little guest room off to the side. You know, basic room with a bed and nightstand. And my sister said, “Come look at my room.”

I go upstairs and her “room” is the entire floor and a huge expansive place with a beautiful living room, kitchen, and bedroom with a window seat. I’ve always wanted a window seat! And the beauty of the space just kept going and going and as I was checking it all out I was saying, “Why do you get all of this and I only get a bed? This isn’t fair.” Instead of rejoicing with what she had, I was lamenting that I had so little compared to what she had.

Fast forward a couple of hours and I’m out of dreamland and on my morning run. And it hit me. The Universe intends for me to have my own huge mansion. And yet, here I am taking just a room in that mansion and lamenting the fact that I don’t have this big mansion. When in fact I really do!

So today I claim my mansion and standing in my room – my current reality – I feel so amazed and astounded at the beauty of this mansion that’s all mine. I claim it. I own it. I say, “I deserve this.” I imagine it. I am seeing it in my mind’s eye right now exactly what it looks like and how it feels to have it. And I love and appreciate myself exactly where I’m at knowing that it’s just a matter of time before I am enjoying all of my mansion.

What is your mansion? What does it look like? How does it feel to have your mansion? I invite you today to own your mansion. Claim it as yours. Know that you deserve it. Imagine how it feels to be fully living in every inch of it and be grateful for it. Woohoo!

Currently I am taking the Essential Ernest Holmes class at the San Jose Center for Spiritual Living my spiritual home. This past week I read this quote in our workbook:

“What we seek is seeking us.”

Yowza! I’ve been saying this a lot lately about your ideal client. You are seeking them and they are also seeking you – even though they might not know it consciously. They are calling you to share your message in order to open a new door of possibility for them. Well, for both of you really.

So today while I was sitting quietly eating my lunch alone it hit me:

“I’m seeking clarity, which means that clarity is seeking me!”

Oh how comforting this idea is and it applies to my life on so many levels. You see, my daughter just moved to her dad’s house 60 miles away. Literally. She just left moments ago and one of the things I’m doing to nurture myself through it is to write this blog post and share it with you. I have no idea if making the move was the “right” thing to do. But, I do know it was the best decision considering the facts, circumstances, and recent past. Here we are just moments before her departure:

I’m also running my very first Simply Fearless Fempreneur Group {so excited!} and I’m writing our workbook as I go. There are times when I doubt, question, or over-edit the content, direction, and lay-out. But, I do know I am creating something {both a workbook and a community} that is central to who I am, what I’m all about, and my calling.

Plus, I am working with a product coach and creating brand new products for my website, which is in the process of being redesigned. Wow! I am doing so much right now. I hadn’t really realized it until I was typing it all out.

Anyhow, all of these happenings require a tremendous amount of decisions to be made relatively quick and money to be invested. So yeah, I’m seeking big doses of clarity. I’m so glad that it’s also seeking me. In fact, I know it’s already on its way. It’s a good thing because…

I am open.

I am ready to receive.

And to rock it out!

I have conversations with my Soul. It’s where I get all of my rock star ideas from. This morning as I sat down on my comfy pillows in the Creativity Room I ran across the following convo in my journal from 10/14/09. It was one of those mornings when fear was running amok in my mind…

–

Me: Here is what fear is saying to me, ‘People don’t want this. You’ll be left out to die. You won’t get anywhere. You’ll just spin your wheels to no avail. You’ll always be mediocre waiting to make it big.’

Soul: What are you going to do with that?

Me: I don’t know. I want to step into knowing I can create anything but I don’t feel it’s true.

Soul: That’s the thing. You have to take the step before you know it’s true to discover and experience its truth.

Me: That sucks.

Soul: Yes, and your point is?

Me: I don’t want to.

Soul: Well then go back to your victimhood and leave me alone!

Me: Ouch.

Soul: Yes, ouch. You are like this super powerful creator and you want to crawl back under the hood of self-pity? How pathetic is that?

Me: Hey, my Soul wouldn’t say that to me!

Soul: Really now? I just did. Because you need to hear the truth. It is pathetic when you give up your creative power and retire to mediocrity. Especially when someone has as much talent as you have. You know that crazy lady you met recently? Well, she’s more successful than you because she’s out there doing it and living it.

Me: Double ouch!

Soul: Excellent! If a poke in the ass is what you need, then I’m going to give it to you.

Me: Okay. I guess.

Soul: You guess? You guess? Oy! Stop guessing and put something on the line. Make a claim. Take a risk. Really put it on the line. The only way you’ll ever find out is if you risk it all.

–

I admit that part of me feels like a freak for sharing my Soul Convos with you. But, the message is too powerful to hold back. I’m curious now: is your Soul asking you to take a risk, to put yourself out there, or to stake your own claim? I’d love to hear about it!

Recently I published an article about how spending 30 minutes a day can change your life and GirlPaint posted this question:

“I’m not quite clear on what Free Writing is, though. Is it just putting pencil to paper and letting loose w/ words? Is there a direction/aim, or is it pretty much whatever comes out?”

Since I do Free Writing every day, I usually look at the last 24 hours and write whatever I need in order to process the experiences, feelings, or anything else that’s coming up for me. But, if you sit down to do your Free Writing and are drawing a blank, then it might be helpful to have a starting point. A couple of years ago I wrote a list of questions to transform your life. They might help you in your Free Writing Daily Practice:

What do you need from today?

What are you holding onto that is holding you back?

What does success mean to you?

What is self-care?

What does it mean to be vulnerable?

What are you willing to make a commitment to today?

What does it mean to be human?

How often do you give yourself permission to be human?

When is good enough good enough?

What are you passionate about?

Who are you most comfortable with? And why?

How can you cherish your body today?

What do you value the most in your relationships?

How often are you vulnerable with the important people in your life?

Do you sacrifice your dreams and desires for the benefit of others?

How are you feeling today?

What does it mean to forgive?

How can you support yourself and others today?

What are you willing to accept about yourself right now?

What is your intuition and how does it serve you?

How would someone else describe you?

What is your biggest challenge in life?

What is one step you can take today towards one of your goals?

Is there something you have always wanted to do but haven’t?

Who do you look up to and why?

What is compassion?

How do you show yourself compassion?

What is fear?

How does fear hold you back?

How does fear support you?

What are your options?

What energizes you?

Remember that questions can only transform your life if you give them permission to and when you open up to discovering the answers. Have fun, kids!

**You are invited to post your answers to any of the above questions on your blog. If you do, then please enter your name and specific url in Mr Linky below. Specific url means the link to the post where you published your answer. If you post a link to the main page of your blog, then your name & link will be deleted. But, the cool thing is if you answer 5 questions, then you can post 5 specific urls. Your listed links are only limited by the number of questions above. If you answer more than one question you might want to include the topic in your name. For example: yourname-good enough or yourname-forgiveness. I can’t wait to read your answers!

Owning and running your own business is challenging enough even in a healthy economy. So as the fear, doom, and gloom abound in the media I thought it would be helpful to publish an article about how I’ve managed to grow my business during a financial maelstrom.

7 Simply Fearless Ways to grow your business are:

#1 Talking to and meeting as many peeps as possible
I belong to multiple in-person networking groups where I am consistently asked, “What do you do?” Just having someone standing in front of me, looking me in the eyes, and listening to me has been incredibly valuable. Each time I share I learn more about where I am and where I’d like to go. {Note: be selective about the groups you join to make sure they are in alignment with your personal and professional goals – I sense another article coming on!}

#2 Blogging every day
I am committed to sharing my personal and professional process on my blog and not only do I receive value by doing so, but I’m also creating an on-line community of people who support me and my efforts. Now, I don’t mean that they are all hiring me. I do mean that they listen, provide valuable feedback, and some subscribe to my blog and newsletters. Oh yeah, and of course my SEO is growing up in the process :~)

#3 Offering a FREE eCourse as a subscription bonus
I am so excited about this because not only does the eCourse provide an incentive for people to sign up, but I am honoring my wisdom and knowledge by sharing it. How cool is that?!

#4 Twittering
Twitter is one of the fastest and easiest ways I’ve grown my on-line community. It is short, sweet, and to the point. I love connecting with others and you don’t have to sift through a ton of content because people are only allowed to post within 140 characters – which is really short! By far, Twitter has been one of the biggest impacts on my blog traffic and new subscribers.

#5 Continuing to grow personally
I believe that as long as I grow personally that my business will also grow so I take classes and join groups for my own personal development. Currently I am taking a teleseminar series called Know Your Purpose that is helping me both personally and professionally because I am exposed to how another coach/trainer is structuring his program. What a phenomenal experience!

#6 Learning from others who already have what I want
It is so important to learn from others who have already been where you are AND successfully moved forward. There are certain coaches who I follow because I admire their work (all of them have helped me personally) and I want to learn from their business development process how I can move forward in mine. I look at what they did to get to where they are and I adopt bits and pieces that resonate with who I am. The key is to always incorporate it into your personal values and offerings because the all-time best thing you can do to grow your business is…

#7 Just be yourself!
That’s right, folks. The most important thing I have done to grow my business is to be willing to share with people who I am, where I’m at, and what I stand for even when I don’t have it all figured out. As challenging as it is to put my real and authentic self out there for all to see, it is also the most rewarding. The bottom line is people hire me because they like me. {Wow! People like me? Really?} Yes, people like me and they are willing to pay me to help them. I really am that good!

As you know, it’s important not to boast and brag about yourself just for personal flattery. However, it is important to stand tall and proud in who you are right now in this moment. Now, I know you are awesome. And I know you have valuable information to share with others. So get out there, blog, publish newsletters, meet people, continue to learn, and most importantly just be yourself. The world is waiting for you! Success is yours for the taking.

The last few times I’ve gotten together with my parents, my dad and I have gotten into an argument and hurt each other’s feelings about something or other. We’ve always easily triggered one another. We’ve gotten along pretty well over the last few years, but lately we seem to be back to some old stuff.

So as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches and I prepare to gather with my extended family, I’ve decided a few things. First of all, I’ve decided that my family of origin (including Dad) is my greatest source of strength and support. Now, this is a bit of a stretch for me because in the past I’ve viewed my family of origin as my greatest source of arguments, hurt feelings, and drama. Of course, there is some truth in that. But, today I have a choice. I get to choose how I view my family. Do I want to view them through the eyes of “I can’t stand you” or through the eyes of love, compassion, and understanding? Of course, I want the latter, so here are a few other things I will be reminding myself of before and during our Thanksgiving celebration:

Take nothing personally

Dad loves you

Say, “Ouch!” if anyone says anything harsh

If you notice hurt feelings of irritation, then excuse yourself and take a quiet moment to..

Love the parts of you that hurt

Your family (including Dad – maybe even especially Dad) wants you to be happy and successful

Plan ahead how much time you are going to spend with extended family and your family at home

Follow through with your plans

There’s one other thing I need to do to prepare to step into all of these powerful perspectives and I call it “Say it like it is”. I am going to sit down at my computer and type all of the things I don’t want to think or feel about my Dad. I’m going to allow everything to flow out of my head, through my fingers, and into the document on my computer. I’m not going to worry about typos or making sense. I’m just going to free-type. I’m not going to think stuff through as I type and if any judgment comes up in the process I simply type that too. It’s kind of like opening up the door to my inner closet of uncomfortable and undesirable thoughts and feelings. I’m always surprised at what comes out (that was inside of me?!) But, I know without a doubt that the more I air it out, the easier my Thanksgiving family gathering will be.

You see, we all have yucky feelings about people we love. It comes with the territory whether you like it or not. The more we deny the yuck, the more it piles up and the more power it has over us. In fact, most of us, walk through life denying the yuck and storing it away in deep, dark places within. When we get really full, then inappropriate behaviors and hurtful words spill out in the absolute worst moments turning the most important events in life to some of the most hurtful – like holiday gatherings.

So this year you have a choice. How are you going to view your family? Take some time to make a conscious decision about which eyes you’re going to look through, what you will say and do if a tense situation comes up, and how much time you are going to invest. If you need to, sit down at your computer and type out your “Say it like it is” thoughts and beliefs to clear your inner closet. And then go and enjoy your holiday, your family, and yourself!
